HARMONY ROAD

Harmony Road founder and composer, Jan Keyser, developed the first course in 1981. It has grown and been continually refined to insure student success. It is ideal to provide the basis for more advanced musical training as well as a lifetime of enjoyment of music. Lessons include:

• Keyboard discovery and playing
• Solfege* singing and ear training
• Rhythm activities and movement.
• Creative activities and composing

*The Solfege method uses the traditional do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-do names for notes. Solfege is a powerful tool for developing cognitive skills, as well as a time-honored way to teach the relationship between notes on the scale. Harmony Road students also learn traditional music reading through keyboard education.

THE MUSIC IN ME (Ages 3-4 years).
The MUSIC IN ME is a dynamic readiness program for young children with emphasis on ear training, solfege singing, movement, keyboard activities, pitch and rhythm awareness. Creativity is stressed. 45 minutes weekly. This course continues as MORE MUSIC IN ME.

HARMONY ROAD (Ages 4 1/2 to 6 years).
THE HARMONY ROAD COURSE is carefully constructed for children to learn the basic building blocks of music. Emphasis areas are ear training, solfege singing, keyboard playing, ensemble and rhythm activities, movement and music creativity. This exceptional course gives the student " inner hearing " which makes skills such as transposing, improvisation and composing easily accessible to their music studies. Parents share in the group experience.
